SEWER FEST SAMPLER

For any and all folks new to the fest, thinking about making a vid, here’s a little sampler of vids from the last fest to give you a notion of what it’s like.

Tourism of Toronto – James Malekzadeh

Found Footage – Kelso Steinhoff, Charles Hutchings, and Piers Desrochers-O’Sullivan

A Calming Breath – Devin Shears

VID 20170320 232117 1 – Lauren Belanger

Sending Out A Major Love – Colton David

How To Submit a Vid

I love nothing more than getting vid submissions.

To submit a video to SEWER FEST, just email a download link to sewerfest@gmail.com.

Not to be patronizing, or support any specific business, but services like Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, and others have been effective ways of sending vids to me in the past. If you need help just shoot me an email and ask!

Not all submitted vids will be screened at the fest. The program is compiled as a compromise of time and good taste.

THE RULES

There are THREE rules for video submissions to SEWER FEST.

  1. No professional equipment.
  2. No HD unless it’s shot on your phone.
  3. Keep it under 4 minutes.

Further explanation of THE RULES

“No Professional equipment.”

If you have to ask if it’s SEWER FEST permissible, it probably isn’t. No HD video cameras. No DSLRs. Nothing you can swap the lens on. No professional lighting. No grip equipment. No professional sound equipment.

The big exception is editing and post production software. Use whatever you want. I don’t really care so long as you try to stay within the spirit of SEWER FEST. For this reason animation is a bit of a gray area that I feel out on a per-submission basis. If you roll up with something fully animated in Maya you will be HARD IGNORED.

Found footage, professionally shot footage, and professionally recorded audio are permitted if you are remixing/ editing it in some way.

“No HD unless it’s shot on your phone”

Pretty self explanatory. Don’t shoot high definition video unless you’re doing it on your phone.

“Keep it under 4 minutes.”

Don’t submit a video longer than four minutes.

I occasionally make exceptions for rule breakers that are otherwise exceptional, but don’t count on us seeing eye-to-eye on what constitutes “exceptional”.
